You have been our dwelling place through all the generations
You have cherished us by name before the earth’s foundation
Father, we fall in your presence, nothing is hidden in your sight.
Father, without your forgiveness, we are consumed beneath your might.
Chorus:
Have mercy! Hear your children call.
O Lord come make us whole!
Come Holy Spirit fill us all!
O Lord come make us whole!
Restore the fellowship we lost.
O Lord come make us whole!
Return to us, or we turn to dust, O Lord.
Ages pass before your face, the nations sprout and wither.
You remain as shadows fade, and glories turn into vapor.
Father, we fight, but our labor is like a striving in the sand.
Father, we bow and we’re waiting, if only you would make us stand.
Bridge:
Break through the bonds that veil our clouded minds,
Your favor rest, your joy in us revive,
Grant us that we would number right, each day a living sacrifice,
Partaking now in our eternal life.
Father, we seek your compassion, the Loving Kindness of your name.
Father, we turn in repentance, you have redeemed, will you remake?

You in the shade of the most high
In the shadow of Shaddai
Say to the Lord my refuge
My God in whom I trust
You will be saved from the fowler’s snare
Beneath God’s wing rest from care
Faithfulness your refuge
A shield and buckler, the truth
You desired me/ I freed you
You have known my name
You desired me/ I freed you
You have known my name
You will not fear the terror of night
Nor arrow in daytime flight
Nor the plague in darkness
Nor the sickness at noon
A thousand fall at your side
Ten thousand at your right
It will not come near you
The death of error you’ll see
Bridge:
No harm befall you
No affliction draw near you
God’s messengers are with you
On their palms, they lift you
Lest you strike your foot against a stone
Don’t strike your foot against a stone
Don’t strike your foot against a stone

When morning lights the sky
When I’m wrapped in the night
It is good
In gladness to sing
To the music of strings
It is good
For the work of your hands
And your perfect commands
It is good
The fool can’t understand
And the wicked man
Why do you exalt me
Over my enemies?
It is good
The righteous will walk
In the courts of our God
It is good
So in gladness we’ll sing
To the music of strings
And our shouts will resound
And shake temple ground
It is good

1. Before the worlds began to move,
Before the heav'ns were stretched abroad,
Thy sov’reign throne was fix'd above;
From everlasting thou art God.
2. The Lord, he reigns, and dwells in light,
Constant in glory, he commands:
The world, enduring by his might,
Still on its first foundation stands.
REFRAIN 1
The Lord, the God of glory, reigns,
In robes of holiness array'd;
His constant love and pow’r sustains,
And guides the worlds his hands have made
And guides the worlds his hands have made
3. Like floods the angry nations rise,
Aloud their forceful tempests roar,
They lift their billows to the skies,
And foam and lash the trembling shore.
REFRAIN 2
Yet God, the mighty one, on high,
Controls the fiercely raging seas;
He speaks! and noise and tempest fly,
The waves bow down in gentle peace.
4. The Lord, he reigns, and dwells in light,
Constant in glory, he commands:
The world, enduring by his might,
Still on its first foundation stands.
REFRAIN 3
Thy sov'reign Word is ever sure,
Eternal holiness is thine;
in that one day, your people pure,
will in thy blest resemblance shine

Verse 1
The depths of the earth, the mountains high
He holds them in his hand
He carved a bed to hold the sea
He lifted out dry land
The One who established the earth
Sustains creation each day (x2)
Verse 2
The people cried out for Egypt land
They put God to the test
Recalling not his mighty works
They did not enter rest
Today if we hear his voice
Let us not harden our hearts (x2)
Pre-Chorus
Hallelu - jah, Hallelu - jah, our God reigns
Hallelu - jah, Hallelu - jah, He is King
Chorus
Give praise to The Lord, lift a thankful voice
Give praise to The Lord, make a joyful noise

1 Sing to the Lord, ye distant lands,
Ye tribes of every tongue;
His new discover'd grace demands
A new and nobler song.
2 Say to the nations, " Jesus reigns,
God's own Almighty Son ;
His power the sinking world sustains,
And grace surrounds His throne."
3 Let heaven proclaim the joyful day;
Joy through the earth be seen:
Let cities shine in bright array,
And fields in cheerful green.
4 Let an unusual joy surprise
The islands of the sea:
Ye mountains sink, ye valleys rise,
Prepare the Lord His way:
5 Behold He comes! He comes to bless
The nations as their God ;
To show the world His righteousness,
And send His truth abroad.
6 But when His voice shall raise the dead,
And bid the world draw near,
How will the guilty nations dread
To see their Judge appear

See the storm clouds gathering
A thick dark shroud is surrounding
The righteous one with Justice reigns
Look upon your God and be glad
Fire consumes those who oppress
Lightning bares the ugliness
Mounts of greed will melt like wax
Look upon your God and be glad
Look upon your God and be glad
All we have to lose is our idols.
All we have to lose is our idols.
Other gods will bend the knee
Those bound by evil will be freed
With joy and gladness praises sing
Look upon your God and be glad
Look upon your God and be glad
All we have to lose is our idols.
All we have to lose is our idols.

The LORD is king. The earth is glad.
The land and shores rejoice.
His reign is built on righteousness,
And justice is his throne.
Surrounding him are darkened clouds.
A fire consumes his foes.
His lightning shines on all the earth;
It trembles at the sight.
Glory! Glory!
The mountains melt like candle wax,
Before the Lord of all.
The skies proclaim his righteousness,
The people see his light.
You are Most High above the earth,
And over every god.
Your judgments make the nations glad.
The villages rejoice.
Glory! Glory!
Do good all you who love the LORD.
And turn from evil ways.
For he protects the faithful ones,
And rescues them from hurt.
He pours his light on righteous ones,
And gives to them his joy.
Rejoice and praise his holy name.
Give thanks unto the LORD.
Glory! Glory!

1 Joy to the world, the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King;
let ev’ry heart prepare him room
and heav’n and nature sing,
and heav’n and nature sing,
and heav’n, and heav’n and nature sing.
2 Joy to the earth, the Savior reigns!
Let men their songs employ,
while fields and floods, rocks, hills, and plains,
repeat the sounding joy,
repeat the sounding joy,
repeat, repeat the sounding joy.
3 No more let sins and sorrows grow
nor thorns infest the ground;
he comes to make his blessings flow
far as the curse is found,
far as the curse is found,
far as, far as the curse is found.
4 He rules the world with truth and grace
and makes the nations prove
the glories of his righteousness
and wonders of his love,
and wonders of his love,
and wonders, wonders of his love.

The earth will tremble at the God of justice
Let us raise one voice and sing

Worship him with glorious praise
The God who listens, the God who answers
Let us raise one voice and sing (Refrain)

Worship the Lord
with joyful songs of praise;
sing of his love,
his everlasting grace.
He is the Lord,
the maker of all things;
heaven adores
and all creation sings.
Holy, holy, holy
God almighty,
worthy of all praise.
Great in power
and endless glory:
worthy, worthy of all praise.
Look to the one
who leads us all our days;
trust in his love
and follow all his ways.
He is the Lord,
the maker of all things;
heaven adores
and all creation sings.
Gladly approach his gates,
enter his courts with praise.
We will rejoice
and bless his name.
He has been good to us
in mercy and faithfulness.
We will rejoice
and bless his name.

BRIDGE
All men are like
grass, they wither,
But the Word of the Lord
stands forever
High as the heavens
are above the earth,
above the earth
far as the east is from the west,
he removes our transgressions

Let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice
Call upon the faithful one and know He hears your voice
Praise the Lord who saved his people
From a famine in the land;
Through his suff’ring servant Joseph,
God foretold his saving plan:
What was meant to be for evil,
God will turn up-on its head,
As He’d do that day at Calv’ry
When He conquered death by death!
Praise the Lord who heard our crying
We were poor and broken slaves
In the land of Egypt, dying,
But He heard and came to save!
Through the stammering tongue of Moses
God has humbled all the proud.
He has Qilled our hearts with singing;
With re-joicing we go out!
God confirms to us the promise
That he swore to Abraham
"You’ll be blessed to be a blessing
You’ll receive the promised land”
So we wait, O Lord, with patience,
For your Qinal saving work
For the coming of Your Kingdom
And redemption of the earth!

Give thanks to God for he is always good!
His love endures always.
He brings redemption he is our salvation
We will sing his praise.
We have been scattered gather us together to praise your holy name.
His faithfuless is stronger than our failure Praise his holy name.
But we have sinned just like our fathers.
Yet you forgive to make your power known.
And we believe in all God's promise
With hope and prayer
we worship Jesus Christ.

---
This compilation continues our journey through the Psalms, exploring Book Four, which is psalms 90-106.
Sue Gillingham teaches us that "In Book Four, especially, Moses is more prominent, and the Exodus traditions are as important as those of David and Zion. Here the psalms echo a constant theme of coping with loss: this seems to reflect on the experience of exile, with the land, Temple and King, the identity markers of the people, all having been removed. It has seventeen psalms, mirroring the seventeen psalms in Book Three.
Book Four also has significant parallels with Isaiah 40-55 and the predominant theme of exile. Book Four tells its story in four scenes. It starts with Moses the mediator (Psalms 90–92); it moves on to focus on the Kingship of God (Psalms 93–100); it pauses to reflect briefly on the experiences of a king like David (Psalms 101–103); and it ends again with Torah as Creation and Exodus come back in view (Psalms 104–106)."
**For Cardiphonia these compilations provide a way for church musicians to collaborate across states, denominations, countries and musical styles! The past 18 months have been lonely, hard, and for many of us seasons of exile from our spaces and our people. Many of these songs were written and recorded without their typical ecology of creativity!
The musicians (and the producer) went on quite a journey to pull this one together...and ironically the compilation was almost lost when a computer took a short dive off a car roof outside of Nashville!
It's a bit cheeky to title this collection "Joy to the World" -- part of that is just to bring attention to Isaac Watts text nestled in here and beautifully reinterpreted by Andy Bast. But it also reflects a deeper commitment that even in exile the saints sing songs, and Eugene Peterson reminds us that, “All suffering, all pain, all emptiness, all disappointment is seed: sow it in God and he will, finally, bring a crop of joy from it.”
All of these artists have their own projects to explore and I would encourage you to do some digging. These particular songs are just a small measure of the wealth that these folks regularly gift to the church. And we all need encouragement right now to keep pursuing our craft.
Much Love.
All for Jesus,
Bruce and the Cardiphonia Crew.
