about

In Fall 2012 we donated the proceeds of this compilation to a church working in the aftermath of "Superstorm Sandy."
---
"Songs for Liturgy" is a collection of 'short songs' for worship. These are classic service music selections (kyrie, gloria patri, sanctus, doxology), examples of biblical canticles, scripture songs, and other compositions written by local congregations to serve the gospel narrative of corporate worship. While hymns and contemporary worship songs are usually self contained ideas these songs seek to serve the gospel narrative inherent in a complete worship service of preaching, prayer, and communion. These songs are decoration for the liturgy of our services - they are exclamation points, bursts of praise and confession, times of transition, and sung amen's.

Many thanks to Phil Majorins for contributing an article to this compilation exploring the liturgical/musical ideas of this collection.
