In the Name of God the Father, In the Name of God the Son, In the Name of God the Spirit, One in Three, and Three in One; In the Name which highest Angels Speak not ere they veil their face, Crying, Holy, Holy, Holy," Come we to this sacred place. Lo, in wondrous condescension, Jesus seeks His altar-throne; Though in lowly symbols hidden, Faith and love His Presence own. When the Lord His temple visits, Let the listening earth be still; May the Spirit's sweet indwelling Each believing heart fulfill. Here, in Figure represented, See the Passion once again; Here behold the Lamb most Holy, As for our redemption slain; Here the Saviour's Body broken, Here the Blood which Jesus shed, Now the offer of communion, Into lasting joy be led. Here shall highest praise be offered, Here shall meekest prayer be poured, Here, with body, soul, and spirit, God Incarnate be adored. Holy Jesus, for Thy coming May Thy love our hearts prepare; Thine we pray would have them wholly, Enter, Lord, and tarry there.

1. Draw nigh and take the body of the Lord And drink the holy blood for you outpoured. Offered was He for greatest and for least, Himself the Victim and Himself the Priest. 2. He that His saints in this world rules and shields He that...In this world rules To all believers life eternal yields, To all… Believers life With heavenly bread makes them that hunger whole, Gives living waters to the thirsting soul. Gives live…ing waters to 3. Approach ye, then, with faithful hearts sincere Approach…Ye then with faith And take the pledges of salvation here. And take…The pledges of O Judge of all, our only Savior Thou, In this Thy feast of love be with us now.
4.
The Feast With wondering eyes, Lord we admire the feast prepared by grace; Come, Lord, and set our souls on fire, and fill each heart with peace. These emblems of thy precious love, by faith may we receive! And with a solemn pleasure prove, we in thy name believe. We eat this bread, we drink this wine, come give yourself to us. We know you’re here, that’s why we’ve come, to feast on thee with love. No goodness of our own we bring; we’re sinners vile and base; Christ is our all; of Christ we sing, and long to see his face. O may we each, with heart and tongue sing, “Worthy is the Lamb”; To him alone the praise belongs, and we’ll adore his name. We eat this bread, we drink this wine, come give yourself to us. We know you’re here, that’s why we’ve come, to feast on thee with love.

I O the depth of love Divine, The' unfathomable grace I Who shall say how bread and wine God into man conveys I How the bread His flesh imparts, How the wine transmits His blood, Fills His faithful people's hearts With all the life of God ! 2 Let the wisest mortal show How we the grace receive, Feeble elements bestow A power not theirs to give. Who explains the wondrous way, How through these the virtue came? These the virtue did convey, Yet still remain the same. 3 How can heavenly spirits rise, By earthly matter fed, Drink herewith Divine supplies, And eat immortal bread? Ask the Father's Wisdom how " Him that did the means ordain! Angels round our altars bow To search it out in vain. 4 Sure and real is the grace, The manner be unknown ; Only meet us in Thy ways, And perfect us in one. Let us taste the heavenly powers ; Lord, we ask for nothing more: Thine to bless, 'tis only ours To wonder and adore.
6.
Verse 1 Upon a life I have not lived, upon a death I will not die, Another's life, another's death, I stake my whole eternity. Verse 2 Not on tears that I have shed; not on sorrows I have known, Another's tears, another's grief, on them I rest, on them alone. Lord, I believe; oh deal with me as one who has Your Word believed; I take the gift, Lord look on me as one who has Your gift received. Chorus Jesus, Son of God, I build on what Your cross has done for me; There both death and life I read, my guilt and pardon there I see Verse 3 I taste the love Your gift contains, I take the pardon that You bring, And pass up to the living source above, where all the fullness springs. Here at Your feast I take the pledge eternal life in my heart seal, Here in the bread and wine I read the grace and peace Your death reveals. Bridge Holy! Holy! Lord God Almighty! Worthy! Worthy! Heaven and earth are full of Your glory!

ALL glory and praise to the Ancient of Days, Who was born and was slain to redeem a lost race. Salvation to God, Who carried our load, And purchased our lives with the price of His blood. And shall He not have The lives which He gave Such an infinite ransom for ever to save? Pre:chorus: Yes, Lord, we are Thine, And gladly resign Our souls to be fill'd with the fulness Divine. Chorus: Because Christ has died, Christ is Risen, Christ will come again We yield Thee Thine own, We serve Thee alone, Thy will upon earth as in heaven be done. Pre:chorus How, when it shall be We cannot foresee; But oh! let us live, let us die unto Thee.

Am - Em At the Lamb's high feast we sing
 Am Em C - G Praise to our victorious King,
 C G Am - Em Who hath washed us in the tide Am Em C - G
 Flowing from his pierced side;
 C G F - C Praise we him whose love divine
 F C Am - Em Gives his sacred blood for wine,
 Am Em F - C Gives his body for the feast,
 F C C - G - Am - Em Christ the Victim, Christ the Priest.
 Where the paschal blood is poured,
 Death's dark angel sheathes his sword;
 Israel's hosts triumphant go
 Through the wave that drowns the foe.
 Praise we Christ, whose blood was shed,
 Paschal Victim, Paschal Bread;
 With sincerity and love
 Eat we manna from above. Mighty Victim from the sky,
 Pow'rs of hell beneath thee lie;
 Death is conquered in the fight,
 Thou hast brought us life and light:
 Hymns of glory and of praise,
 Risen Lord, to thee we raise;
 Holy Father, praise to thee,
 With the Spirit, ever be.
9.
While the sons of earth retiring, From the sacred temple roam; Lord, Thy light and love desiring, To Thine altar fain we come. Children of our heavenly Father, Friends and brethren we would be; While we round Thy table gather, May our hearts be one in Thee. Jesus spreads his banner o’er us, Cheers our famished souls with food; He the banquet spreads before us, Of His mystic flesh and blood. Precious banquet, bread of heaven, Wine of gladness, flowing free; May we taste it, kindly given, In remembrance, Lord, of Thee. In Thy holy incarnation, When the angels sang Thy birth; In Thy fasting and temptation, In Thy labors on the earth, In Thy trial and rejection, In Thy sufferings on the tree, In Thy glorious resurrection, May we, Lord, remember Thee.
10.
1 Bread of the world, in mercy broken, Wine of the soul, in mercy shed, By Whom the words of life were spoken, And in Whose death our sins are dead; 2 Look on the heart by sorrow broken, Look on the tears by sinners shed; And be Thy feast to us the token That by Thy grace our souls are fed. Optional Refrain: Lamb of God, have mercy Lamb of God, have mercy

1. "I thirst, Thou wounded Lamb of God, To wash me in thy cleansing Blood, To dwell within thy Wounds; then Pain Is sweet, and Life or Death is Gain. 2. "Take this poor Heart, and let it be For ever clos'd to all but Thee! Seal Thou my Breast, and let me wear That Pledge of Love for ever there. 3. “How blest are they who still abide, Close shelter'd in thy bleeding Side! Who Life and Strength from thence derive, And by Thee move, and in Thee live. 4. "What are our Works, but Sin and Death, 'Till Thou thy quick'ning Spirit breathe? Thou giv'st the Power thy Grace to move; 0 wondrous Grace! 0 boundless Love! 5. "Hence our Hearts melt, our Eyes o'erflow, Our Words are lost; nor will we know! Nor will we think of ought beside My Lord, my Love is crucify'd!

14.
(Psalm 23) 1. The King of Love my Shepherd is, Whose goodness faileth never; I nothing lack if I am His And He is mine forever. 2. Where streams of living water flow My ransomed soul He leadeth, And, where the verdant pastures grow, With food celestial feedeth. 3. Perverse and foolish, oft I strayed, But yet in love He sought me; And on His shoulder gently laid, And home, rejoicing brought me. 4. In death’s dark vale, I fear no ill With Thee, dear Lord, beside me; Thy rod and staff my comfort still, Thy cross before to guide me. 5. Thou spread’st a table in my sight; Thine unction grace bestoweth; And O what transport of delight From Thy pure chalice floweth. 6. And so through all the length of days, Thy goodness faileth never; Good Shepherd, may I sing Thy praise Within Thy house forever.
15.
Thee, King of saints, we praise For this our living bread, Sustained by Thy grace, And at Thy table fed; While we in lower parts Of Thy great kingdom feast We feel in our hearts the promise of Thy rest. Yet still a higher seat We in Thy kingdom claim, And begin by faith to eat The supper of the Lamb:
16.
Pity a helpless sinner, Lord, Who would believe Thy gracious Word. But, O! my heart with shame and grief, A sink of sin and unbelief. Lord, in Thy house, I read there’s room, And venturing hard, behold, I come. But can there, tell me, can there be Amongst Thy children room for me? I eat the bread and drink the wine, But, O, my soul wants more than sign! I faint unless I feed on Thee, And drink the blood as shed for me. Chorus: Lord, I believe Thy grace is free. O, magnify that grace in me. For sinners, Lord, Thou cam’st to bleed, And I’m a sinner vile, indeed. Lord, I believe Thy grace is free. O magnify that grace in me.
17.
O Lamb of God, You take away the sins of the world Have mercy on us. Grant us peace.
18.
(lyrics adapted from Refreshed by the Bread and Wine) We are renewed by the bread and wine Of our Savior's love So let our hearts and voices join in songs Of praise with those above Ch. Oh worthy is the Lamb! Who died and ever reigns For us He gave the bread and wine And through grace we sing His name Though they behold Him face to face And we only shadows see Still we are saved by that redeeming grace Safe and beloved are we! Every fear and grief and suffering Will be conquered all through Him Still we are waiting long with the saints of light And raise our voices to sing
19.
1 By Christ redeemed, in Christ restored, We keep the memory adored, And show the death of our dear Lord Until He come. 2 His body broken in our stead Is here in this memorial bread, And so our feeble love is fed Until He come. 3 His fearful drops of agony, His life-blood shed for us we see: The wine shall tell the mystery Until He come. 4 And thus that dark betrayal night With the last Advent we unite-- The shame, the glory, by this rite Until He come. Chorus: Until the trump of God be heard, Until the ancient graves be stirred, And, with the great commanding word, The Lord shall come. By Christ renewed, in Christ made one We claim by faith what he has won And hope in all he has begun Until he come As we partake this holy meal He gives us strength to ever yield And sends out in loving zeal Until he come
20.
1 By Christ redeemed, in Christ restored, We keep the memory adored, And show the death of our dear Lord Until He come. Chorus: Let every tear be washed away Let darkness yield to perfect day Our hearts await to see the day to see the day when Jesus comes. 5 Until the trump of God be heard, Until the ancient graves be stirred, And, with the great commanding word, The Lord shall come.
21.
Freshened by the bread and wine, pledges of our Savior's love; Now let hearts and voices join In songs of praise with those above. If they behold him face to face, While we a glimpse can only see; Yet equal debtors to his grace, As safe and as beloved are we. Do they sing, "Worthy is the Lamb?" Though we cannot reach their strains, Yet we, through grace, can sing the same, For us he died, and for us he reigns. They once had a suff'ring time, cares and fears, and griefs they knew; But they have conquered all through him, And we, ere long, shall conquer too. And they sing, "Worthy is the Lamb!" [O Lord now open up our lips!] Though we cannot reach their strains, [And our voice shout aloud thy praise!] Yet we, through grace, can sing the same, [Glory to Father Son and Flame] For us he died, and for us he reigns. Though all songs of saints in light, Are far beneath his matchless worth; His grace is such, he will not slight The poor attempts of us on earth. So we sing, "Worthy is the Lamb!" [O Lord now open up our lips!] Though we cannot reach their strains, [And our voice shout aloud thy praise!] Yet we, through grace, can sing the same, [Glory to Father Son and Flame] For us he died, and for us he reigns. For us he died, and for us he reigns. For us he died, and for us he reigns.
22.
In memory of the Saviour's love, we keep the sacred feast where every humble, contrite heart is made a welcome guest, is made a welcome guest Chorus: By faith we take the bread of life, by which our souls are fed oh take and eat the cup in token of his blood that was for sinners shed oh take and drink In faith and memory here we sing the wonders of his love and here we wait, and hope by faith the heavenly feast above, the heavenly feast above
23.
Take this bread, take and eat; it is broken for you. Take this bread, see it blessed; it is given for you. This is my body broken for you, do this in remembrance of me. This is my body broken for you, do this in remembrance of me. I am taken, blessed, I am broken, given and I am Bread for the world, broken, given. It is great mystery as we come to table. We take bread, we are blessed; we are His beloved. This is His body broken for us, we take and we give to the world. This is His body broken for us, we take and we give to the world. We are taken, blessed, we are broken, given and we are bread for the world, broken, given. Alleluia, alleluia.
24.
Bread of the world, in mercy broken Wine of the soul, in mercy shed By Whom the words of life were spoken And in Whose death our sins are dead Look on the heart by sorrow broken Look on the tears by sinners shed And be Thy feast to us the token That by Thy grace our souls are fed Have mercy, have mercy Have mercy on us Here is mercy, here is mercy Here is mercy for us So let us come to the feast of Jesus Let us eat of the Bread of Life Let us drink of the wine, His blood To talk and dine with Jesus Christ
25.
[Jesus invites his saints To meet around his board; Here pardoned rebels sit and hold Communion with their Lord. For food he gives his flesh, He bids us drink his blood; Amazing favor! matchless grace Of our descending God!] Refrain: Christ, Our Lamb has been given for us Come let us keep the feast The gifts of God for the people of God Come let us keep the feast This holy bread and wine Maintains our fainting breath, By union with our living Lord, And int'rest in his death. Our heav'nly Father calls Christ and his members one; We the young children of his love, And he the first-born Son. We are but several parts Of the same broken bread; One body hath its several limbs, But Jesus is the head. Let all our powers be joined His glorious name to raise; Pleasure and love fill every mind, And every voice be praise.
26.
1. What He, to be our brother, gave for us - His body as the bread, His wounds, His blood, for us to save, that by his life we now are fed. 2. Hung He for us upon a tree, and was not free from grief and pain, that we would also grow as He, and learn to suffer scorn and shame. 3. Oh Lord, that You should suffer so the painful cup of that dark night, obedience making white as snow the bride You then claim as Your right. 4. Then let us sinners fly to Thee, and spurn at once the easy path, Thy Grace has set the pris'ner free to follow in Your righteousness.
27.
1 Lord Jesus Christ, be present now; Our hearts in true devotion bow, Your Spirit send with light divine, And let Your truth within us shine. 2 Unseal our lips to sing Your praise In endless hymns through all our days. Increase our faith and light our minds; And set us free from doubt that blinds. 3 Then shall we join the hosts that cry, "O holy, holy Lord Most High!" And in the light of that blest place We then shall see You face to face. 4 All glory to the Father, Son, And Holy Spirit, Three in One! To You, O blessed Trinity, Be praise throughout eternity!
28.
1. Come, ye sinners, poor and needy, Weak and wounded, sick and sore; Jesus ready stands to save you, Full of pity, love, and pow'r. 2. Come, ye thirsty, come, and welcome, God's free bounty glorify; True belief and true repentence, Ev'ry grace that brings you nigh. Refrain: I will arise and go to Jesus, He will embrace me in His arms; In the arms of my dear Savior, O there are ten thousand charms. 3. Come, ye weary, heavy-laden, Lost and ruined by the fall; If you tarry till you're better, You will never come at all. 4. Let not conscience make you linger, Nor of fitness fondly dream; All the fitness He requireth Is to feel your need of Him.
29.
This I know My trial is over Cancelled not adjourned And I leave to live in thanks For life already earned But this truth Is far above me Demons cloud his face For someone else His endless mercy, Someone else his grace We take your blood, your body Warms us like wine, fills us like bread Nail this moment of failure High above your head If you came But not for this What worth would it be? If not for this Why your birth? Why your lonely death? We take your blood, your body Warms us like wine, fills us like bread We take your blood, your body Festive as wine, basic as bread Nail this moment of failure High above your head Who can chart the course you take, From the hosts of heavenʼs glory To this abandoned place? From eternal favor, without any stain, To the one and only offense to God, Who can guess the pain? What fuel could power, descent from above, A distance beyond all human distance, But your burning love?
30.
VERSE The Lamb has overcome The Lamb has overcome The battleʼs done and the victory is won For the Lamb has overcome No grave could hold him down No grave could hold him down Up from the ground, “He is risen!” was the sound No grave could hold him down At Godʼs right hand is he At Godʼs right hand is he Our Perfect Plea as he lives to intercede At Godʼs right hand is he CHORUS Worthy is the Lamb who was slain Glory be unto his name (2x) The table now is spread The table now is spread This wine and bread Broken body and blood shed The table now is spread The day is drawing near The day is drawing near He shall appear and will wipe away each tear The day is drawing near The Lamb has overcome The Lamb has overcome The battleʼs done and the victory is won For the Lamb has overcome

about

Songs for the Supper is the 3rd in a collaboration of songs dedicated to serving under-emphasized themes in our worship music.

All of these artists have donated their songs to this end - that as you gather with family, friends, and churches you might have songs to voice your thanksgiving and praise, especially during the Lord's Supper. Some of these songs are quiet meditations, others look to the great rejoicing of the Lamb's Feast. All of them reflect the incredible diversity of postures and approaches to our Lord's table.

We hope these songs are a blessing to you and your church.
