lyrics

1. What He, to be our brother, gave
for us - His body as the bread,
His wounds, His blood, for us to save,
that by his life we now are fed.

2. Hung He for us upon a tree,
and was not free from grief and pain,
that we would also grow as He,
and learn to suffer scorn and shame.

3. Oh Lord, that You should suffer so
the painful cup of that dark night,
obedience making white as snow
the bride You then claim as Your right.

4. Then let us sinners fly to Thee,
and spurn at once the easy path,
Thy Grace has set the pris'ner free
to follow in Your righteousness.
