From Stephen: "Psalm 108 is a psalm of confidence in God, a psalm of praise. But the joy is tear-stained. There’s pain in the here-and-now as David writes of God’s steadfast love and faithfulness. When Eden sent me the first verse, she had perfectly captured that tension between the lyric and the melody: a sad hope but a hope nonetheless. I wrote the chorus almost immediately, and it all fell into place from there."
lyrics
With steadfast heart, O my God,
I will sing praises to you,
with all of my being I will
awake the dawn.
I will give thanks to you Lord,
in every place my foot lands,
and all of the people will know
how faithful is God.
Be exalted, O God, above the heavens
set your glory above all the earth,
that the ones that you love may be delivered,
O God, answer me. O God, answer me.
Where is your city, my God?
Will you not fight on our side?
Without you the battle is lost,
come fortify.
You have promised salvation,
Grant us help in our strife,
God of justice, deliver us from the enemy
we fight.

This is such a lovely collection of Christmas songs. I have joked before that there is a tension & nuance to the music that gives a sense of suspense - Christmas at Sleepy Hollow maybe! Joy, joy, joy… fisparksie
