From Nick: “ Writing about Psalm 109 was definitely challenging, as being honest with some of the raw anger and emotions expressed there about such hard things like betrayal is so foreign to many songs for the church. This was a great exercise in allowing ourselves to express places of hurt that don’t often have a safe place in the church to be seen. As a future (now current) husband and wife, this was also a wonderful time to come along side each other and meld our music together as one while we were in the process of becoming one as well. ”
lyrics
I come to you small and needy,
my heart knows many scars.
My friends have all betrayed me,
You know just who they are.
My enemies surround me, they curse me with their tongues,
repaying good with evil, returning hate for love.
So I pray when my hands and heart are weak,
when there's nothing left in me, you're my Defender.
And through the night, you're bringing truth to light,
So I don't have to fight, you're my Defender.
My knees are weak from fasting,
The light has nearly gone.
I fade as shadows of evening,
my last strength holding on.
Oh help me, Lord, and save me,
renew me, bless me still.
Oh bring me to my feet again,
promise me you will.
Yahweh Elohai, Azereni Adonai
(help me my God, help me my God, help me Lord)

This is such a lovely collection of Christmas songs. I have joked before that there is a tension & nuance to the music that gives a sense of suspense - Christmas at Sleepy Hollow maybe! Joy, joy, joy… fisparksie
