From the writers: "Husband and wife Matthew & Lois Montgomery live and work in Nashville, TN and have both been deeply impacted through the ancient tradition of Psalm-singing. They met at Geneva College, which is affiliated with a denomination that sings psalms exclusively a cappella in public worship. Since their formative time singing these Scripture texts during college, Matthew has worked alongside Crown & Covenant Publications to set selections of their psalter (The Book of Psalms for Worship) to arrangements suitable for more congregations. The setting of Ps. 108 that they contributed to this record is Matthew & Lois’ first venture into metricizing an original translation and new tune for a Psalm."
lyrics
My heart is steadfast, God;
I'll sing with all I am;
Ring forth a song, O harp and lyre!
O dawn, awake thy sleep!
I'll give you thanks, O Lord,
in sight of all the earth;
I'll sing your praise
for your great love,
extends into the skies.
Set your beloved free! Give salvation and answer me. (2X)
You are above the heav'ns,
Your glory radiant;
By your right hand,
give answer God,
that we may be set free.
Grant us your help O God,
reject us not, we pray,
vain is man's strength,
our Lord can save,
that we may be made new.

This is such a lovely collection of Christmas songs. I have joked before that there is a tension & nuance to the music that gives a sense of suspense - Christmas at Sleepy Hollow maybe! Joy, joy, joy… fisparksie
